Picking a Toothbrush for your Child

Jun 21 • 1 minute read

Do you know what you would do while you’re standing in the store choosing a toothbrush for your child? Did you know that your child’s toothbrush can actually have a major impact on their oral health? How do you choose the right brush for your child?

One important thing you should look for is a brush with soft bristles. If you use a brush with hard bristles, you might accidentally hurt your child’s teeth. In addition, you should avoid brushing her teeth until about half an hour after eating. You should also help your child avoid brushing too hard, even if she is using a brush with soft bristles.

You should also choose a brush that fits well inside your child’s mouth. We recommend using a rounded head, instead of a rectangular one, since they usually fit better in your child’s mouth.  A rounded brush will also help your child reach the back of her teeth.

Finally, please remember that you should replace your child’s toothbrush every few months. If a brush is frayed or used for too long, it could harbor harmful bacteria. You can also help your child want to brush her teeth by choosing a design she enjoy. Cartoon Characters are popular with most age groups.
