Dental Sealants
Sealants play a crucial role in protecting the teeth of young patients. Permanent molars, which erupt behind the baby molars, typically begin to appear around the age of 6 or earlier. Due to underdeveloped dexterity, children often have difficulty brushing thoroughly, especially in the back of the mouth. This, combined with deep grooves on newly erupted teeth and less-than-perfect oral hygiene, makes it essential to seal permanent molars as early as possible.

Dental sealants reduce the risk of cavities by sealing the deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of teeth. They also release fluoride, strengthening teeth and increasing their resistance to decay. By providing this protective barrier, sealants significantly lower the chances of cavities, ensuring healthier teeth as children grow.
We exclusively use glass ionomer sealants because of their superior durability, efficient fluoride release, and uptake, offering long-lasting protection and enhanced cavity prevention. The fluoride released by glass ionomer is directly absorbed by the tooth, helping to remineralize and repair the enamel, making it more resistant to future decay. This fluoride is not ingested, but instead stays within the tooth, providing continuous protection from the inside.
